Candlelight Vigil Planned Tuesday For Missing Man

A candlelight prayer vigil will take place Tuesday night in Benson for a missing Florida man. Christopher “Cole” Thomas hasn’t been seen since November 25th, the day after Thanksgiving.

The Town of Benson and volunteers are organizing the prayer vigil Tuesday from 6pm until 8pm at the Benson Singing Grove. Town officials have waived all charges to the organizers for use of the town space.

The 22 year-old electrical worker disappeared in Benson while traveling on I-40 towards Durham. Two friends traveling with Cole said he exited off I-40, drove to North Elm and East Morgan Streets where he jumped and ran from the car. He hasn’t been seen since.  He has not contacted family members, friends or his employer.

In December, Benson Mayor William Massengill met with Cole’s parents. After the meeting he encouraged Benson area residents to search your personal property, farm and structures for anything suspicious.

Last week about 40 law enforcement officers combed the Benson area searching for Cole.

A reward is being offered for information leading to his whereabouts.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Christopher Cole Thomas is asked to contact Benson Police at 919-894-2091 or email tips to crimeline@bensonpd.org.
