Car Hits Deputy’s Cruiser And Building

CLAYTON – A woman led Johnston County deputies on a brief chase this morning.  It started with an incident in the 5100 block of Hogan’s Way off Old US Highway 70, at the Wake County line, and ended on Shotwell Road.

Around 8:00am Thursday, a Johnston County sheriff’s deputy responded to a 911 hang-up call at a townhome on Hogan’s Way.  The deputy arrived and exited his patrol car.  About the same time a female was exiting the same townhome.

The woman got into her car and sped away. In the process she struck the unmarked patrol car and a small community mailbox building next to the street. She did not stop.

Other deputies in the area located the vehicle but the woman refused to pull over. With the assistance of Clayton Police, the driver was stopped on Shotwell Road near US 70.

No injuries were reported, however, the woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation.  Charges are pending.

Authorities said the 911 hang-up call was related to a possible disturbance at the residence.
