Car Overturns After Being Struck By Elementary School Bus

FOUR OAKS – A bus from Four Oaks Elementary School was involved in a collision this afternoon (Thursday) while transporting students home on the final day of the school year.

The accident happened around 2:00PM at the intersection of Highway 701 South at Stewart Road in front of Barefoot’s Country Store.

According to the NC Highway Patrol, the bus failed to yield at the intersection and struck a silver Buick, causing the car to overturn in a ditch.

Johnston County EMS, Four Oaks EMS, Johnston County Emergency Services and the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department responded to the scene.  Paramedics checked out the bus driver and five students on Bus 662 but no injuries reported.  The driver of the Buick was shaken but was not injured.
