A Smithfield car repair business has won approval by the Smithfield Town Council to convert to a small car sales lot.
Classic Touch Auto Sales will operate out of a former self-serve car wash business at 100 Computer Drive in West Smithfield. Several years ago after the car wash was closed the business operated as a car repair shop.
Danny Moowad, the new property owner, said plans are end auto repairs to the public and use the site to sale car sales.
Because the site is only four-tenths of an acre, the council restricted the number of used cars to no more than 5 at any given time, install a handicapped parking stall and have two parking spaces for employees or customers. The town council also prohibited outside auto repairs.
Any additional sign permits must be approved by the Smithfield Planning Department.
The Special Use Permit was unanimously approved at the May 1st meeting of the Smithfield Town Council.
