Carl Lamm Highway Dedication Ceremony Dec. 10

FOUR OAKS – The NC Department of Transportation will hold the Carl Lamm Highway Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday, December 10 at 1:00pm.

The event will take place in the conference room at Meherrin Fertilizer Inc., 4001 US Highway 301 South, Suite 108, Four Oaks.

Four miles of Interstate 95 between Four Oaks and Smithfield in Johnston County will be dedicated after Carl Lamm, a legendary news broadcaster for 72-years until his retirement in 2019. He had become a mainstay on the AM and FM dials, owning and operating WMPM and WTSB radio stations. Lamm died on August 15, 2024 at the age of 97.

At the request of NC Representative Donna White and the Town of Smithfield, the NC Board of Transportation agreed on August 7, 2024 to dedicate a four mile section of I-95, between mile marks 88 and 92 as the “Carl Lamm Highway.”

The N.C. Department of Transportation will join the Lamm family and local officials for the dedication.
