Friends and family are mourning the loss of Carlton Ray Lamm of Benson, the owner of Dunn Benson Ford. Carlton passed away on Monday with his family by his side. He was 77.
Carlton was born in Bailey and graduated from Bailey High School in 1960.
He was the owner of Dunn Benson Ford, Dunn Benson Motorsports and Carlton Cattle Company. He was a former member of the National Guard Armory and an honorary Kentucky Colonel. His passion for racing landed him in the National Late Model Hall of Fame. He influenced the lives of many racers and fans across the U.S.
Carlton was known for his generous heart and his incredible love of others. He shared that love with his family, first, and all those around him. His smile was contagious, and will always be cherished by those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Butler Chapel at Campbell University in Buies Creek with Rev. Al Hocutt and Rev. Don Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn.
Mr. Lamm is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rebecca J. Lamm; son, Kemp Lamm and his wife Kathy of Dunn; a sister Judith L. Finch of Kinston and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 18th from 5:00pm until 8:00p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.
