Carolyn Ennis was honored by Mayor Andy Moore and members of the Smithfield Town Council this month.  Ennis was a member of the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield Board of Trustees for nearly 36 years until her retirement on Nov. 18, 2019.

Mayor Moore presented Ennis with a Proclamation during their Jan. 7th meeting recognizing her service.

“The citizens are fortunate to have had a person of such experience dedicate so many years of service to the Town of Smithfield,” Moore read from the proclamation.  “The Town Council deeply appreciates the important contributions Carolyn Ennis has made to the Town of Smithfield and to the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield Board of Trustees.”

“When you have a board made up entirely of volunteers, it is a pleasure to have someone like Ms. Ennis bring her experience, expertise and community support to our efforts,” said Jeff Jennings, the Library Board of Trustee Chairman. “We certainly appreciate all of her work during the years, but more importantly, the patrons she has served have benefited much more.”

“Thank you very much. I will cherish this,” Ms. Ennis said as she was applauded by elected officials and the audience.
