Cash And Drugs Seized Following High Speed Chase

JOHNSTON COUNTY – Two people are facing a long list of charges following a high speed chase involving a stolen car.

Monday afternoon, Wilson’s Mills Police attempted to stop the driver of a 2021 Audi for a traffic violation. The male driver refused to stop, leading police on a chase through Smithfield and Selma, then southbound on Interstate 95, at times reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

State troopers joined the pursuit and were able to stop the stolen vehicle near the 84 mile marker, between Four Oaks and Benson.

Wilson’s Mills Police said a large amount of cash and cocaine was located.

The driver, Kahson Cunningham, 25, of Raleigh, was charged with fleeing to elude, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, speeding, failure to heed light and siren, covering/disguising a license plate, driving a motor vehicle with no registration, fictitious registration tags, window tint violation, and no insurance.

The passenger, Promise Allure Hope, 23, of Raleigh was charged with felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of heroin, resisting a public officer, and a seat belt violation.

Police said Cunningham is a known gang member and on federal probation.

No injuries were reported.

  1. Good job by all officers involved!! Now if the system will do their job and keep both of them behind bars for MANY years!

  2. Hopefully his federal probation gets revoked and he gets to spend time in his favorite resort getaway to build up more cred and work his way up the ranks.

  3. These two must have thought they were Bonnie and Clyde. Oh boy, they belonged to a gang. That just makes them lower than lower than they already were. I hope they get put away for a long time. Thanks to all the LEO’s involved for cleaning up the streets a little but now we need a Judge that will stand up to these low life punks and put them away and keep the trash off the streets.

  4. These guys got a whole laundry list of charges but the first line in the article says it was a stolen vehicle. Might want to add that to the charges for these scumbags.
