Chairman Lawter Delivers 2024 State Of The County Address

SMITHFIELD – Johnston County Commissioner Chairman Butch Lawter delivered the annual State of the County address during the March 18 Board of Commissioners meeting.

The annual video address highlighted significant accomplishments from the past year, including the opening of the new Public Safety Center and Detention Center, the ongoing success of the Commissioners Promise Program, and economic development milestones such as expansions by Novo Nordisk and Bartlett Milling, contributing to job growth and a robust economic outlook.

The State of the County focuses on the six priorities that have been set by the Board of Commissioners, which include: infrastructure, financial stewardship, public safety, education funding, land use, and County employees.
