KENLY – The State Highway Patrol has released the name of a Selma man who was killed in an early-morning collision between his motorcycle and passenger car. It happened at 5:55am today (Tuesday) at the intersection of Highway 42 and Highway 222 in the Stancil’s Chapel community.
Troopers said a green Honda passenger car, driven by Leonardo Avila Huerta, age 43, of Fremont, NC, was attempting a left turn from Highway 222 onto Highway 42. Huerta failed to yield to the motorcycle traveling eastbound on Highway 42. The motorcycle collided with the side of the Honda ejecting the operator.
The motorcyclist, identified as Tracey Allen Bronner, age 51, of Selma, died at the scene.
After consulting with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office, the Highway Patrol charged Huerta with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving without a license. Huerta was released on a $5,000 bond today from the Johnston County Jail.
Seems like if he was driving without a license and his actions killed an innocent driver, he should at least be charged with felony death by motor vehicle. I just don’t understand why our justice system continues to fail us.

Bronner has had a motorcycle license for years
(a1) Felony Death by Vehicle. – A person commits the offense of felony death by
vehicle if:
(1) The person unintentionally causes the death of another person,
(2) The person was engaged in the offense of impaired driving under G.S.
20-138.1 or G.S. 20-138.2, AND
(3) The commission of the offense in subdivision (2) of this subsection is the
proximate cause of the death.
AND – exactly my point! BTW – here’s the misdemeanor guidance. I can look it up – doesn’t mean I agree with it. If someone gets on the road illegally and causes a death of someone on the road LEGALLY – then slap them with a FELONY!!!!!

No license. Caused the death of a human being. $5000 bond. Who ever bailed him out will probably have him back in Mexico by earlier today. This is absolutely BULLS**T!
The drug dealers are getting higher bond and longer prison time than the people that cause deaths. Our Justice system sucks.

Another example how our justice system is and has always been failing us. Killing someone and he didn’t have a license. Well let’s do a misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and will not get any kind of real jail time. Yet someone has lost their lives due to someone who should not have been driving in the first place. My Cousin TRACY (article misprint: ‘Tracey’), was a very experienced and cautious motorcycle operator. The family is grieving the loss of such a beautiful soul.

Should be a felony and no not racist just observe statistics…alot are illegal, driving with no license and drunk. Maybe he won’t but he was not legally supposed to be driving so felony!!! Sorry for your loss of a good law abiding man!
