Garner Police have filed death by motor vehicle charges against a Raleigh man following a fatal crash on Highway 70.
On August 17, a Honda Accord driven by Lenae Mary Rebecca Dew of Raleigh became disabled in the eastbound travel lane of US70 between I-40 and Greenfield Parkway. Police said a 2013 Freightliner box truck traveling eastbound, and driven by Eric Adams of Raleigh, ran into the back of the Honda, killing Dew.
The truck crossed the median of US70 into the westbound lanes where it was involved in a collision with two other vehicles. Lisa Michelle Kohl of Clayton was driving a 1988 Toyota and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Dorothy Smith Best of Pikeville was operating a 2012 Honda Pilot. Best and a passenger, Ann Mewborn Smith, of Goldsboro, received serious injuries.
On Thursday, Garner Police charged Eric Adams with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle. No other charges are anticipated. The NC Highway Patrol assisted Garner Police with the accident investigation. Photos courtesy ABC11
