A Johnston County man was arrested following a brief chase Saturday night. A sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 39 near the Johnston-Wake County line but the vehicle failed to pull over. During the chase the driver reportedly threw several items out the window and even struck a ditch with his car but didn’t stop.
The chase continued onto Richardson Road where the driver, identified as 51 year-old Danny Ray McCullers, finally stopped when he reached the driveway of his home.
McCullers struggled with officers but was eventually detained.
He was charged with several offenses including felony fleeing to elude arrest, driving on a revoked license, resisting a public officer, reckless driving, fictitious registration, and having an open container of alcohol in the passenger area. Bail was set at $50,000.
