SMITHFIELD – A 5 year-old child was taken to the emergency room after being bitten by a dog. Smithfield Police said the incident happened Saturday afternoon at a public park in the 300 block of S. Second Street.
The child was petting the black lab when he was bitten in the face. The child was transported to the hospital where he received several stitches.
The dog, which appeared to be a stray animal, ran away after the attack.
All dogs have teeth and will or can bite. Never touch a stange dog..I’m talking from experience. I hope the child is okay and will heal quickly.
I’ve been on the trail down there, with my family, and was approached by two dogs, which I think were from the house a few doors down from the Methodist church. Thankfully, both my wife and I were present to ensure our children were not attacked or harmed, but I have to ask: Where were the parents in this situation?
Where was the grammar and punctuation teacher?
Irresponsible dog owners.
Irresponsible parents! Who let’s their children pet a stray animal?!?!?!?
WHY would the parents allow their child to pet a “stray” dog?
