Members of a Johnston County church can’t imagine who would want to break into their house of worship. On Thursday, a break-in was discovered at White Memorial Church on White Memorial Church Road off Highway 210 in the Willow Spring area of western Johnston County.
Between Sunday night and Thursday morning, someone gained entry through a window in the fellowship hall. No items were disturbed other than Christmas cookies the church had bought for the holidays.
About $20 worth of Christmas cookies were stolen.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the break-in.
This is not the first time this month a church has been the victim of a crime. Three rural Johnston County churches have reported catalytic converters have been stolen from their church vans. Authorities believe the items are being stolen so they can be resold to salvage yards.
If you have any information about the cookie monster who stole the Christmas cookies from White Memorial Church during this week’s break-in you are asked to contact investigators at 919-989-5000.
