Officers are investigating an assault involving two shoppers at Carolina Premium Outlets on Outlet Center Drive in Smithfield.
Smithfield Police said a 20 year-old Robeson County woman was shopping at the Outlets last Tuesday night, Dec. 17th when she got into a verbal disagreement inside a store with another customer. The victim said she left the business and was confronted in the parking lot by the same female suspect. While outside the business, the suspect struck the victim in the head with her handbag.
The victim was transported by Johnston County EMS to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of a minor laceration to her face. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
An independent eyewitness was able to corroborate the information the victim gave to police.
Captain R. Sheppard said officers have few leads on the identity of the suspect.
