Members of the Selma American Legion have donated $1,000 towards renovations of the Selma Civic Center.
In December 2015, the Town of Selma purchased a 5,000 square foot building at 300 N. Webb Street from the Selma American Legion for $60,000. The Town has embarked on a project to renovate the historic building into a civic center for use by the town and community.
Members of the American Legion said they wanted to give some of the money back they received from the sale to the Civic Center committee assist with the building renovations.
The estimated price tag to refurbish the building is around $300,000. At last report, over $135,000 has been raised for the repairs.
