Clayton Allocates $200,000 For Large Sewer Project

The Clayton Town Council has agreed to allocate $200,000 from their Water and Sewer Fund to secure bids and begin work on a large sewer main project that will serve the East Clayton Industrial Area.

The Town of Clayton, the County of Johnston, and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk are working together to construct a wastewater pretreatment facility on Powhatan Road just off Highway 70.

The Town of Clayton will eventually operate the plant as a public facility in order to attract and retain new and expanding pharmaceutical businesses.

In order to begin construction of that plant as soon as possible this year, the town needs to relocate about 700 feet of existing sewer main. The $200,000 allocation will allow Clayton to complete that relocation and begin planning the future phases of the East Clayton Industrial Area sewer improvements.
