On Friday, the Clayton American Legion Leonard Moore Post 71 established the Rudolph Allen Hall. Clayton American Legion members and family gathered for a grateful and patriotic duty to dedicate their Legion Hall where many have labored and held celebrations since 1965.

The land where this current legion building is located was donated by Hume Creech over 50 years ago as a permanent place for Post 71.

During the 1965 dedication Rudolph Allen, now a 64 year member of the Clayton American Legion, became the overseer of construction and daily functions. The post building was erected to serve as a monument which would stand as a perpetual memorial to those who serve and for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in serving this nation.

Allen, a WWII veteran, is now 89 and continues to support the American Legion and its programs.
