Clayton American Legion Post 71, the Post Auxiliary and Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q recently hosted a lunch for 50 homeless veterans. The luncheon was held Aug. 8th at Hull’s Landing in Raleigh.
Following a prayer by the Post chaplain, members of the Post, the Auxiliary and the District Commander served the food. Social distancing and mask requirements of COVID-19 were followed by the servers and recipients.
The Luncheon was organized by Missy Hatley at COSA, Post Commander Jerry Hill and Ngiare Hubbard of Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q of Clayton.
Post 71 members said afterwards that working together to feed homeless veterans was very rewarding.
