CLAYTON, NC – The Town of Clayton Human Resources Department officially welcomed a new HR Director this week. Kenya Walls began her new role as the Director of Human Resources on Aug. 30. She will be taking over the director role from Catherine Whitley, who has served as the Interim Human Resources Director since February.
“I am confident that Kenya will do a great job for the Town of Clayton,” said Clayton Interim Town Manager Rich Cappola. “We received significant interest in this position, and Kenya’s years of HR experience made her the perfect candidate for the job. I know she will be a great addition to our team.”
Walls has 16 years of experience in the HR field. Before coming to Clayton, she served as the Human Resources Director for the NC Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC) for four years. Prior to that she served one year as a Personnel Analyst for NCWRC. She also worked with the NC Department of Health and Human Services for two years, one year with Lowe’s, two years with the NC Education Lottery, four years with Time Warner Cable, and two years with Ceridian, global human capital management software company.
Walls earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Leadership Studies from UNC Wilmington. She has also completed 15 hours of postgraduate work in HR and Business Management at Strayer University.

Walls starting salary is $100,000.
