Clayton Man Jailed After Deputies Find Stolen Vehicle, Meth

ANGIER – A Clayton man was arrested November 4 after deputies reportedly found a stolen vehicle and methamphetamine in his possession.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call on Ridge Road near the Harnett County line, where they located a stolen Jeep Liberty SUV.
The vehicle had been reported stolen to the Jacksonville, North Carolina Police Department.
During the arrest, officers said they discovered a white powdery substance suspected to be methamphetamine inside a folded dollar bill.
Jose Francisco Carillo-Cortes, 35, of Luther Court in Clayton, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of methamphetamine, both felonies.
He was taken to the Johnston County Detention Center in Smithfield and held under a $20,000 secured bond.
