Clayton Opens Advisory Board Application Process

CLAYTON – The Town of Clayton is looking for community members to help shape the future by serving on one of its advisory boards. These boards give important advice on different topics and help make decisions that affect the entire town.

The advisory board application process opens today (Tuesday), and the Town is encouraging residents to apply for one of seven boards: the Board of Adjustment, Downtown Development Advisory Board, Fire Department Advisory Board, Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library Advisory Board, Planning Board, Public Art Advisory Board, and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

“Our advisory boards have been key to helping the Town grow and improve,” says Town Clerk Heidi Holland. “Their input helps guide important decisions, and we need your support to keep building on that progress.”

There are more than two dozen vacancies available, including both regular and alternate seat positions. These seats cover various areas, including In-Town, Claytex, and the Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). Terms begin on January 1, 2025, and each term lasts three years. Check out the latest openings here.

“Every community member brings unique skills that can make a difference,” Holland adds. “We would love for you to share your thoughts and experiences with us. By volunteering, you can help make Clayton a great place to live, work, and play.”

Residents can fill out applications online here. Be sure to submit them by Friday, November 1.

  1. Every member of these boards will be hand pick by the Good Old boys network in Clayton to get the recommendation they want. Just another example of Clayton’s Flim-Flam form of local governance.
