CLAYTON – The State Highway Patrol is investigating a collision involving an unmarked police car. A Clayton police officer was involved in a collision with another vehicle around 5:50pm Monday on US 70 Business at Financial Drive, near Walmart.
Johnston County EMS and Clayton Fire responded to the scene. There was no information released about injuries or the cause of the two vehicle accident.
The collision caused heavy traffic delays. Both eastbound lanes of US 70 were closed and traffic was forced to make a u-turn and head back west until the road reopened around 7:45pm.
