Clayton Shooting Domestic Related

One man is in the hospital and another is behind bars after an argument in a Clayton home led to a weekend shooting.

The incident occurred early Saturday at 905 East Joyner Street in Clayton where both the suspect and victim lived together.

Timothy-Carroll-Driver-FIWhen officers arrived, 33-year-old Brandon Pleasants told police that his mother’s boyfriend, 58-year-old Timothy Carroll Driver, had shot him in the face, according to Stacy Beard, Public Information Officer, with the Town of Clayton.  It was only in the back of the ambulance on the way to WakeMed hospital that Johnston County EMS crews discovered Pleasants had also been shot in the stomach. Pleasants has had surgery and is expected to recover.

Clayton Police, with the help of Johnston County sheriff’s deputies, arrested Driver a short time after the shooting about a block away from the scene. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries; possession of a firearm by a felon; and altering/removing a serial number from a gun. He is being held in the Johnston County Detention Center on an $80,000.00 secured bond.

Pleasant lives with his mother and Driver on Joyner Street. Pleasant’s two young children also live at the address and were at home at the time of the shooting.  They were not harmed.  Police said some type of domestic argument between Pleasants and Driver led up to the shooting, however, the exact details are still under investigation.
