The 8 and under Cleveland Angel All Stars will advance to the state tournament later this month after winning all three games last week in the District All Star Tournament.

“We are super proud of this bunch and feel very blessed to be a part of it all,” said Head Coach Trapper Wise.

In the third and final district tournament game, the Cleveland Angels trailed Johnston County West early but in the final three innings played solid defense and came out on top with an 18-to-11 victory.

“Overall our Angels played an amazing tournament and the numbers prove that,” Coach Wise said. “We played three games scored a total of 46 runs and allowed only 19!”

“Our success can be credited to great hitting, aggressive base running, and solid defense. These other teams had big hitters, but our outfield was able to keep the ball in front of them, and get the ball in quickly. Our infield stayed on their toes, and accounted for lots of three batter three out innings, or three up three down in softball terms.”
