Thieves made away with nearly $3,981 in merchandise Tuesday from a Smithfield business.
Around 3:45pm, police were called to American Eagle at 1025 Outlet Center Drive. Smithfield Police Captain T.S. Choe told WTSB News three males entered the business grabbed a large quantity of clothing items and fled.
The merchandise was valued at $3981. Smithfield Police initially reported the clothing was valued at $39,841 but later said they made an error. No arrests have been made but the case remains under investigation.
