COATS, N.C. – Town Manager Barbara Hollerand has resigned from her position with the Town of Coats, effective Nov. 20, town officials announced Monday night following a specially called meeting of the Board of Commissioners.

The town issued notice Aug. 19 that commissioners would hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday. The stated purpose of the meeting was to enter into a closed session to discuss matters protected by attorney-client privilege and personnel matters.

The board convened as scheduled Monday and went into closed session. At the conclusion of the closed session, officials announced Hollerand’s resignation.

Mayor Chris Coats said the town has already begun searching for Hollerand’s successor.

“We are grateful for Ms. Hollerand’s service to our community and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors,” Coats told The Daily Record. “The search process has already started in finding our next town manager.”

Hollerand joined the town in March 2025 after serving as town administrator in Stoneville in Rockingham County. She previously led the Downtown Mebane Development Corporation and Mebane’s Main Street program after relocating to North Carolina from Florida.

Hollerand brought decades of local government, planning and community development experience to Coats. Her career in Florida included positions as a planner, assistant to the city manager, development services director and business liaison with the City of Clermont, as well as municipal administrative work in Minneola and leadership of Clermont’s Main Street program.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in business administration from Rollins College. She also holds certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Town officials did not immediately disclose additional details surrounding Hollerand’s resignation or a timetable for selecting the town’s next manager.
