A Johnston County man was arrested on drug charges after officers responded to a welfare check at a mobile home park on Lee-Johnson Road in the Meadow community around 10:00pm Tuesday.
Deputies said they located a vehicle in the mobile home park being driven by 44 year-old Samuel Mark Smith of Melba Lane, Dunn. In plain sight, deputies said they saw crack cocaine next to Smith. After he was removed from the vehicle and handcuffed, officers said they found a smoking pipe and marijuana concealed inside a cigarette pack inside the SUV.
Smith was charged with felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000.
