The 50-210 Fire Department cleared a hurdle on Monday to building a third fire station in their rapidly growing district in western Johnston County.
In a unanimous vote by Johnston County Commissioners, the board agreed to allow the department to move forward with a $1.2 million tax exempt loan to build 50-210 Fire Station Number 3.
KS Bank was the low bidder for the loan at 2.45 percent interest over a 10 year period. Four Oaks Bank and First Citizens Bank also bid on the project but submitted higher bids.
