Commissioners Approve Truck Terminal, Outdoor Storage Rezoning Requests

Johnston County Commissioners approved four rezonings after holding public hearings on the requests during their October meeting.

Officials agreed to rezone 24.4 acres of a 28.2 acre tract in the 500 block of Wise Road, Clayton in the Clayton Township from General Business and Agricultural Residential to Industrial 1. Runaway Logistics LLC petitioned the county to rezone the property for a truck terminal and associated warehouse storage facility. The property is currently owned by Donald H. Williamson and Edna Atkinson Williamson of Kenly.

The board approved a request from John Nunziato with Paganello-Nunziato LLC to rezone 6.17 acres at 9939 NC Highway 210 and 4065 Lassiter Road, Four Oaks in the Elevation Township for outdoor storage and storage buildings. 

Adam & Hodge Engineering petitioned the county to rezone two tracts of land totaling 3.54 acres and owned by N. Morris Rowland in the 500 block of Church Road, Benson in the Pleasant Grove Township. The property will be used for outdoor storage for boats, RV’s, travel trailers and trailers.

Commissioners voted to rezone a 0.85 acre tract at 4624 US Highway 70 Business West, Clayton in the Wilson’s Mills Township from General Business to Agricultural Residential. Javier Contreras said a house on the property had recently been used as commercial property. He wanted to rezone the property to turn it back into a residence.
