Johnston County Commissioner have approved a request to rezone a tract of land in the Pleasant Grove Township from Agricultural Residential to General Business. The 11.3 acre parcel is located at 13551 Highway 50 North near Mt. Pleasant Road.
Curtis Gautier with Capital Properties of Raleigh said he started off with plans for a potential mini storage business but said it may include flex-offices or retail stores.
The traffic count for that portion of Highway 50 is 8,900 vehicles per day and 5,000 vehicles per day on Mt. Pleasant Road, according to a 2019 traffic study.
The Planning Board had previously recommended approval. No one spoke in opposition of the rezoning request. Commissioners approved the case in a unanimous vote during their December meeting.
