CLAYTON – A fully loaded concrete mixer weighing approximately 70,000 pounds suffered a blowout on a rear tire and overturned on the US 70 Clayton Bypass near Ranch Road, Thursday morning.
A driver following the truck saw the tire blow out and said the driver did all he could to control the swerving vehicle before it overturned on the shoulder.

Clayton Fire, Johnston County EMS, State Highway Patrol, and NC DOT responded to the 8:00am accident.
Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane until the accident could be cleared.
I wonder if the tire was a retread? Glad the driver will be ok and no one else was injured.
