RALEIGH – Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) welcomed U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra to North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District. They discussed maternal health, Medicaid expansion, and the Inflation Reduction Act’s positive impact on health care coverage and prescription drug costs.
Secretary Becerra joined Congressman Nickel, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kody Kinsley at Advance Community Health in Raleigh for a roundtable discussion on Medicaid expansion and maternal health. At the conclusion of the roundtable, Congressman Nickel, Secretary Becerra, and Governor Cooper participated in a walkthrough of Advance Community Health’s OBGYN, primary care, pharmacy, pediatrics, and dental units.
Secretary Becerra also joined Congressman Nickel and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kody Kinsley at the Garner Senior Center for a roundtable discussion on the Inflation Reduction Act’s impact on expanding health care coverage and lowering prescription drug costs.
“It was an honor to welcome Secretary Becerra to North Carolina’s 13th District for important discussions with elected officials, professionals, and leaders of our state’s health care system,” said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “Medicaid expansion and the Inflation Reduction Act are making transformational investments to expand access to quality, affordable health care to those who need it most. I’ll continue to work with federal, state, and local officials to address affordability and quality in the health care system, bring down prescription drug costs, and secure federal funding for North Carolina.”
