Construction Worker Struck By Car

A construction worker in the Highway 42 East widening project between Glen Laurel and Buffalo Roads was struck by a car late-Wednesday. According to the driver of a blue sedan, a highway worker pedestrian looked for traffic in one direction before stepping directly into the path of his car coming from the opposite direction.

The pedestrian, who was conscious and alert, was transported to WakeMed with serious injuries. A young passenger in the car suffered a minor arm injury in the crash.

Traffic on Highway 42 East was reduced to one lane for about 40 minutes.

The Archer Lodge Fire Department, Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the State Highway Patrol responded.
