Contractor Stole Thousands From Johnston County Business, JCSO Says

FOUR OAKS – A Johnston County man is accused of defrauding a Four Oaks area business. Daniel Bryan Raynor, age 50, of McLamb Road, was arrested June 20 by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and charged with obtaining property by false pretense.

On January 25, 2024, a Four Oaks area business told authorities they had previously hired Raynor to construct a building. Raynor was reportedly paid $68,000 upfront to cover the cost of the materials.

Raynor allegedly returned to the business with approximately $2,500 in materials and started the job, but never went back to complete the work. At last report, the business had not been able to recover any of the money.

Raynor was given a $15,000 secured bond on the felony charge.

A search of the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors website failed to locate anyone by the name of Daniel Bryan Raynor as having a current builders license.

    • Its customary to pay at least 50% up front to cover materials, I would say though before paying check to make sure the person is reputable.

  1. People think they are better than everyone else
    Judges people
    As someone that knows him
He went around like he was so much better than people and now look who stole money to make that pretend life much better

  2. If they could provide a receipt for the monies they paid to him, I think his bond should be equal to the amount he took from them. That way if he is found guilty then the bond or asset put up for bond can be handed over to the company for reimbursement.
