CLAYTON – Johnston County Public Schools has confirmed an employee at Cooper Academy in Clayton has tested positive for COVID-19. Administrators sent a notification letter to all Cooper Academy staff on Tuesday alerting them a case of COVID-19 had been confirmed at the school by the Johnston County Health Department.
As with all confirmed cases of COVID-19 the Health Department conducts contract tracing and anyone deemed a close contact is notified. Contract tracing typically takes between 24-48 hours to complete, so as a precaution principals may ask employees who are suspected close contacts to telework until the health department completes its investigation.
Contract tracing is still being conducted. At last report, no employees at the school have been asked to self-quarantine, other than the one confirmed case.
