Construction work to repair a washed out section of Cornwallis Road, west of Clayton, will begin Monday, May 8th weather permitting.
A section of Cornwallis Road has been closed since the heavy rains hit the area late last month and washed out a culvert near Josephine Road.
Utility line prep work took place this week to prepare for the project, which calls for a permanent repair with a new culvert being installed. The road should be open before the Memorial Day weekend.
The detour already in place will remain in effect, using Cornwallis Road, South Shiloh Road and Cleveland Road. Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching the work zone, and to continue to have patience and anticipate needing additional travel time when traveling through the area.
