Smithfield Police are encouraging businesses and individuals to be on the lookout for counterfeit money. This week a suspect passed counterfeit $20 and $50 bills at a local restaurant.
Officials have not ruled out it could be linked to counterfeit bills passed last month at Carolina Premium Outlet Center.
In recently months, counterfeit $10 and $100 bills have also been passed in Selma and the 40/42 area of Johnston County.
