Johnston County commissioners have signed off on plans by the NC Department of Transportation to make safety improvements at two intersections that have a higher than average number of accidents.
The DOT plans to improve the intersection of Guy Road at Winston Road near Clayton by constructing a westbound left turn lane on Guy Road between Softwind Drive and Winston Road and making a minor realignment to improve visibility for drivers.
The state also plans to make safety upgrades at the intersection of Bakers Chapel Road, Braswell Road and Ormond Road near Princeton. The DOT plans to realign Bakers Chapel Road and Ormond Road to improve visibility and traffic flow.
The DOT hopes the improvements will reduce the number of crashes at both intersections. A start date on the projects has not been announced.
