County Commissioners have approved a rezoning and special use permit for Piedmont Gas. Due to the future widening of Highway 42 West of Clayton, the gas company is having to relocate some of their underground natural gas lines with new lines.
In doing so, Piedmont Gas is also relocating a transmission pipeline regulator station.
Commissioners voted unanimously to allow for a 0.51 acre parcel at 11832 Cleveland Road to be rezoning to allow for the regulator station.
The company must comply with all federal, state and county agency rules. The county will require a landscaping buffer and 8 foot security fence topped with barbwire.
