Three rezoning requests were unanimously approved this month by Johnston County Commissioners. Public hearings on the requests were held on June 3rd.
Duke Energy Progress was granted approval to rezone 5.6 acres out of a 38.4 acre tract of land in the 3200 block of Lassiter Road, off Highway 210 near Four Oaks. The property is owned by James Keith Smith and Edna Lynn Johnson Smith.
Duke Energy will use the site to store trucks and equipment during the construction of a transmission line through the area. The storage yard will be terminated no later than September 2021. One nearby resident, Timothy White of Skylar Lane, spoke in opposition expressing concern about noise, lighting, and the hours of operation.
E&M Property Management LLC of Benson received approval to rezone 1.9 acres out of a 7.98 acre tract at 3876 NC Highway 50 South in the Banner Township from Agricultural Residential to General Business. W.R. Lambert said a body shop is currently located at the address and a separate paint building needs to be added. The rezoning will allow for the addition of the paint building. No one spoke in opposition of the request.
Dealer Lifts, Inc. was granted permission to rezone 0.91 acres of a 4.77 acre parcel at 875 Landmark Road in the Pleasant Grove Township. The property is owned by James and Amber Gold. The rezoning and special use permit will allow for an auto parts sales and auto repair business. Commissioners required a new NC DOT driveway permit for the site but no additional landscaping requirements. The hours of operation were limited from 7:00AM until 7:00PM. No one spoke in opposition.
