A request to rezone 1.007 acres of land at 2446 Old Drug Store Road in the Cleveland community has been denied.
Nancy Dupree Canady filed a rezoning petition with the Johnston County Planning Department on September 5, 2018 asking for the acre tract of land be rezoned from mobile home park designation to general business.
The petition was set to be heard at the December and January planning board meetings but the applicant was not present. Planning Director Braston Newton said numerous attempts were made to contact Canady but she could not be reached.
On February 4th, Johnston County Commissioners heard the rezoning case. Newton said the applicant could not be reached prior to the meeting and no one was present at the rezoning to represent Canady.
Commissioner Chad Stewart made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Tony Braswell to deny the rezoning application. The vote was unanimous.
