Johnston County Commissioners have agreed to take two ambulances out of service and donate them to the contract agencies where they had been in use.
The county owned ambulances include a 2007 GMC with 190,044 miles and assigned to 50-210 EMS. The vehicle is no longer dependable and is past its service life. The second is a 2009 Ford with 165,821 miles and assigned to Four Oaks EMS. It has a major oil leak and air conditioner issues.
Johnston County Emergency Services Deputy Director Josh Holloman recommended the ambulances be donated to each nonprofit agency.
Commissioners voted unanimously to donate the ambulances to the EMS providers.
