Couple Found Dead Inside Burning Home

FOUR OAKS – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting.

Sunday morning, deputies received a call from family members of 33 year-old Kyle Trabel requesting officers go to his home at 1224 Scout Road, in the Bentonville community, for a welfare check.

Officers arrived and noticed heavy smoke coming from the home and requested the fire department. The Bentonville Fire Department arrived and made entry into the burning home.

After extinguishing the blaze, firemen located the body of female, 39 year-old Miriah Woody, of 1224 Scout Road, deceased on the bed in the master bedroom.

Firemen also located a male in the same room. He was identified as Kyle Trabel.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Kyle and Miriah were in a dating relationship. Investigators determined both individuals had sustained a gunshot wound. There are no suspects being sought in the investigation.

The Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office and Medical Examiner responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

No further information has been released.

  1. Kyle was a good man I know him for a long time but. He loved to work loved his friends and had a son. I’m going to miss him
