A driver was pinned in her car following a violent collision Saturday afternoon near Clayton. It happened on Glen Laurel Road off Highway 42 East.
The car reportedly crossed the centerline on Glen Laurel Road as it was approaching a pickup truck pulling a trailer. The driver of the truck swerved into the ditch to avoid being hit head on. The car clipped the left side of the truck then slammed into the trailer.
Members of the Clayton Fire Department and Johnston County EMS spent about 25 minutes extricating the injured woman from the car. She was taken to Wake Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Clayton Police and the NC Highway Patrol shut down Glen Laurel Road for more than an hour until the scene could be cleared. Photos by John Payne
