A section of Highway 210 was closed for several hours on Wednesday after a driver knocked down a utility pole.
The crash was reported around 6:00am on Highway 210 near the Lassiter Road intersection outside of Four Oaks. It also knocked out power to approximately 600 hundred homes in the area.
Detours were set up by the NC Department of Transportation. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the NC Highway Patrol also assisted with traffic control.
Duke Energy crews arrived on the scene shortly after the accident to make repairs. Officials said Wednesday morning the roadway should be reopened in both directions by 5:00pm.
Troopers said alcohol and speed played a factor in the early morning crash. The driver was arrested for driving while impaired. Photos by John Payne
