Crash Knocks Out Power To More Than 200 Homes

Approximately 200 homes lost power following a single car accident this afternoon on Crantock Road off Highway 210 west of Smithfield.

Around 4:00pm, a Ford pickup ran off the roadway and struck a fire hydrant and utility pole. The utility pole and lines were knocked down. The driver escaped with only minor injuries. They were treated and released at the scene by Johnston County EMS.

The State Highway Patrol and Wilson’s Mills Fire Department responded.

Duke Energy said approximately 202 homes along Crantock Road and Highway 210 lost power due to the accident. Power is expected to be fully restored by 8:15pm.
