Crime Alert

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office issued a crime alert on Friday.

Someone has been going to McDonald’s restaurants in Wake and Johnston County’s purchasing large quantities of gift cards with a fraudulent credit card.

Three McDonald’s stores in Johnston County were hit a short time apart Thursday afternoon. The suspect made away with 32 gift cards valued at $1,600.

Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the suspect, a black female operating a Dodge Durango tells the store clerks she is purchasing the cards for a program to feed needy school-age children.  Only later do the businesses realize the credit card used to pay for the items is fictitious.
