Career and Technical Education computer labs at five Johnston County Public Schools will be getting new desktop computers.
The JCPS Board approved the purchase of 200 new computers, from Arey Jones Educational Solutions, at a cost of $145,442.50. The purchase also includes a four year onsite warranty.
The following CTE computer labs will receive new computers:
Cleveland High – 30
Corinth Holders High – 60
Princeton High – 60
Selma Middle – 20
West Johnston High – 30
Computer labs are updated on a five year refresh schedule. The new computers will replace outdated units. Funds for the replacement were already included in the current fiscal year budget.
Will the old ones be going to surplus for auction?
@Brett @terrybarns: This was discussed and public knowledge…. nearly 1/2 are damaged and classified as “non-functional” or “need repair” — they’ll be sent to Raleigh to the state surplus agency for resale. The rest are distributed to school libraries and given out (as needed) as loaners or replacements.
Brett this is how the Johnston County Public School Board feels about that question? It is none of your *#%£¥! business!!!!
lol. Touche, Terry! Now let us run along and work some more so we can pay more taxes like good little peasants.
$750 per laptop.
That’s about what a pallet of laptops go for on the state surplus website.
@Captain Obvious- probably even cheaper, since they’re baking 4yrs of onsite warranty into it
