Cub Scouts Collect 400 Toys In Christmas Toy Drive

A local cub scout group collected approximately 400 toys to benefit the Salvation Army and Harbor, Inc. during the Christmas season.  Cub Scouts from Den 5, Pack 77 of Smithfield coordinated the Toy Drive as a service project to fulfill a need in their Community.  Each Scout in Den 5 was responsible for wrapping a donation box and placing it at an area business to collect donations which were distributed on December 10 to the Salvation Army and Harbor, Inc.

During the toy drive boxes were placed at Carroll Pharmacy; Centenary United Methodist Church; Smithfield First Baptist Church; Lucas, Denning, & Ellerbe; The Diner; Hot Heads Salon; Julie Anne’s Salon & Spa; and Wilson Mills Christian Church. Toys were also collected from the Johnston County Bar Association at its annual Christmas party on December 9.

Pack 77 is chartered by First Baptist Church of Smithfield and is a member of the Tuscarora Council.  Den 5 of Pack 77 includes: Den Leader Greg Parr and scouts Tanner Broughton, Will Denning, Jacob Lawhorn, Joshua Lemke, Ryan Murphy, Brayden Parr, and  Wesley Roberts.
